Ernie Smith graduated from David Lipscomb High School in 1969 and from David Lipscomb University in 1973 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education.  He began teaching at David Lipscomb Elementary School in 1974 and then moved to David Lipscomb High School in 1978.  He teaches Health and Bible and also coaches girls basketball and baseball.

Ernie is married to Regina Atnip Smith.  Regina is a real estate agent for Haury & Smith.  They have two sons , Keith and Chris.  They attend Hillsboro Church of Christ where Ernie is a deacon.
